I was there. It was indeed an experience.

Million of people came from all over the world.

They stayed overnight in Luneta Park in Manila, a city where street crimes is commonplace. But on that very special occasion, not a single untoward incident happened.

There were some who collapsed due to exhaution, many suffered from toilet shortage, yet apart from that it was very peaceful event. Something that is very unlikely to happen in a city like Manila.

It was the last visit of Pope John Paul II to the Philippines.

They said that it held the record for the largest number of attendees in a World Youth Day event.
