Christian understanding of how to 'be like Christ'

http://www.helium.com/tm/306589
To be like Christ is to do what Christ had done during his earthly life. This does not mean copying what Christ had done but rather doing things in the same manner that he did. In other words it is not about doing what he did but how he did it.
If you examine closely the life of Christ you would find out that he lived a life with a mission. He preached, he cured the sick, and he exorcised bad spirits. All these are leading to one thing, i.e. to proclaim the Kingdom of God or simply to Tell the World of His Love'.
Whilst doing his mission he met many oppositions but he never falter. He was loyal to his mission till the end. He was rejected, criticised and persecuted and eventually murdered in a most humiliating way but he did not falter. He was loyal to his mission even it cost his life.
To answer now the question: How do we become like Christ. In the light of the above we can say that we should tell the world of His Love in our own capacity. If you are a teacher, be the best teacher teach the children well. If you are a singer sing songs that would inspire people to do good, sing songs that would make people feel good. If you are a politician, be honest, be fair and don't play dirty games. . .(more>>)

Understanding the open church movement in relation to traditional churches

http://www.helium.com/tm/320359
A true (Catholic) Church is in the world, for the world, with the world and if necessary, against the world.
During the olden times the Catholic Church is a church which seemed to detach itself from the rest of the (non-catholic) world. After Vatican 2 the catholic church is fully grounded in the world. It co-exists with everyone else, non-catholic, non-practicing catholic and non-believers alike.
The catholic church is for the world. The catholic church lives as a living sign and symbol of God's love for the whole world, ie a sacrament of God's love both within and without the church.
The church is with the world. The catholic church lives with the world. It shares the world's joy and pain. It rejoices with the humankind achievements and weeps with anyone in times of crisis and tragedies.
With respect to moral issues the catholic church may go against the world if needed. The catholic church does and will not promote anything against human right and human life. . .(more>>>)

Does your career compromise your family?

http://www.helium.com/tm/238446
The first groups are parents (or any person supporting a family) who are not earning much but are willing to do everything in order to support their family, i.e. give them food, clothing, shelter and education. Because of this shortcoming they tend to overwork themselves to the extent of sacrificing some quality time that should have been spent with the family.
The second group are those who find meaning in their life by doing the things they do. In other words their work is their life. These kinds of persons are never exhausted in over-doing their job. They love their work so much that work is not work anymore but sheer enjoyment.
The third group are people who are addicted to work. They love to spend more time in working for the simple reason that the more they work the more they earn. And the more they earn the more that they are motivated to do more work. This cycle is repeated over and over again until they could not detach themselves from their work. . . (more)
