"Let the little children come to me. . ."
"Unless you become like little children you cannot enter into my Father's Kingdom."
Come to think of the story of Noah and Sodom and Gomorrah. Just how many innocent children perished on those calamities.
Did such indeed happen in human history or did God really intended to punish the people. If so, why did he not spare the little children?
Were these stories created by their respective writers or perhaps were they real event given with some Theological interpretation.
Is God really a God of Love, slow to anger and quick and compassion.
Isn't in Jesus taught us to forgive not only 7 times but 70 times 7.
Hell is mentioned several times in the Bible. Hell indeed exists. But is it meant eternal damnation.
If the recent tsunami, 9/11 tragedy, etc happened during the 1st century, those events would be interpreted as God's wrath, as punishment for the sins of the people. In fact some 'religious' people today think so.
But do we hear from the Catholic Church and other Christians that those are so. No, we haven't.
Bear in mind that the Gospels were written so that people might believe rather than to tell history. Its object is faith (theological truth) not historical truth.. Remember too that not everything that Jesus said in the Gospel were actually said by Jesus. There many things that had been put in Jesus mouth in order that the Gospel would be meaningful for the people that a particular Gospel were intended for.
Yes, hell exists but not punish those who are in hell but because God loves them so much. All God's actions are motivated by true love.
those who are in hell are judge according to what they've did while they are still on earth because God is a just God. Everything that is related to God you cannot question it what our mind can perceive is limitted
