my reflection on Lk, 17, 5-10

Increase our faith." The Lord replied, "If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you would say to (this) mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,'

Jesus is God but he was an ordinary man. A very ordinary man like anyone of us.

It is a most common error to believe that Jesus not an ordinary man but someone who can do things that an ordinary man can.

The purpose of incarnation is to show men how to be divine. God became man, i.e. the Word became flesh so that we would know how an ordinary person can be holy like God.

If Jesus possesses special power that we don't, then incarnation would be pointless.

Everything that Jesus did can also be done by any ordinary person. The only prerequisite is faith. We think Jesus had some special kind of power, like some magic tricks, but the truth is he only had faith more than us.
