Some of us only buy insurance in order to satisfy a requirement, e.g. Motor insurance. Since i is illegal to drive a car in most countries without an insurance, they simply pick one blindly without bothering to study the policy. This is very dangerous in the event of making a claim. The worst possible scenario is that the insurance company found some loopholes in the circumstance which give them enough ground not to pay the claim.

Here some simple guidelines that you can follow when buying a insurance:

Read the small texts. While insurance company's sale agents will answer all your queries but the responsibility of knowing the essentials in the policy is yours.

Read reviews about the insurance company. With the power and accessibility of search engine in the internet, this can easily be obtained. Read at least five independent reviews in order to get a more realistic profile of the company.

Ask for referrals, If you don't want to invest time in reviewing the policy or reading reviews about the company, ask someone about their experiences with regards to their insurance. The more you know about the person the more confidence you will have in making your decision.
